From DIY wedding favours and pizza vans, to pink flamingos and picnic receptions, I have seen so many creative wedding ideas and the sheer expanse of bold and personalised creativity never ceases to amaze me! I feel so privileged and I would love to share some of the tips and tricks I have picked up along the way to make your creative wedding the talk of the town.

NO POSING, NO TIMETABLES & NO PRESSURE

How to Plan the Perfect Creative Wedding?

Over the years I have seen so many amazing wedding decoration and styling ideas, and met the amazing brides behind the ideas (lets face it, the bride usually ends up being the one in charge of decorations and styling for a wedding, it’s just the natural order of things!) so I would love to share some of the stories and inspiration with you.

Without further ado… here are my TOP TIPS for planning the perfect creative wedding day.

1) Tradition is Tired… So Why Not Break It?

So many brides and groom feel pressure to make their wedding day look a certain way, or work within a set formula.

There can be pressure from family, wedding suppliers and social pressure from friends and social media comparison.

Let me first of all reassure you, I am definitely NOT one of those wedding suppliers. For my own wedding I broke just about every wedding tradition there is, including have a ‘bring and share’ buffet for our wedding breakfast!

If you are looking for a photographer who will not only understand your desire to break with tradition, but actively cheer you on from the side lines then you are in the right place! At the end of the day, this wedding day is about you and your love.

This is a celebration of something so personal to you, so I believe that everything about the wedding day should be a reflection of that uniqueness.

This is not about anyone else but you. so start by removing any preconceived expectations from your mind. If YOU did a wedding, what would that wedding look like? That is the only question you need to ask, and the only standard to pursue.

The right florist or stylist can bring your unique and personal ideas to life with their expertise and creative vision. If you would like recommendation, please ask, I have worked with some incredibly creative and talented wedding suppliers in my time!

3) Choose the Right Creative Wedding Photographer

It kinda goes without saying, but after all that planning and dreaming of your own unique, creative wedding, if you don’t have a photographer who understands the look and feel you are going for with your wedding day, all that precious creativity could be wasted!

Long after the flowers have wilted and the favours have been given out, all you will have left to remember and relieve your creative triumph, are your wedding photos.

I want to make sure that I not only capture the details but also the atmosphere of your wedding day so you not only remember what you created, but how you felt on the day too!

I am dedicated to helping to create a relaxed and natural atmosphere on your wedding day, making sure that I honour the non-traditional and relaxed feel you are wanting.

I won’t rush you, pressure you or even pose you. I am completely flexible to you and how you feel.

I am so aware that nobody really knows how they will feel on their wedding day, until the day itself!

Being an artistic wedding photographer doesn’t just mean taking creative pictures but, for me, it also means being creative about how I work too!

Many photographers come to a wedding day with pre-set ideas of timetables and images, not me! I once photographed a wedding in Italy where English wasn’t their first language… I honestly had no idea what was going on the whole day!

But I was in my element and got some of the best pictures I’ve ever taken. Needless to say, I am well practised at going-with-the-flow and adapting to the moment.

Guaranteed “Hands-off” Approach

Flexible & Sensitive Coverage:

I am constantly scanning the day to, not only anticipate what is about to happen (and who is about to laugh or cry tears of joy!) but also to read your mood and anticipate what may help you enjoy the day the most.

I am sensitive to notice when you need a break or when you need time alone. I am equally sensitive to your guests too, always being very careful to capture those candid, natural moments or love and laughter without getting in anyone’s face or making anyone feel uncomfortable in anyway.

How to Book

So you are considering me to come and be your wedding photographer? That is so exciting! Honestly, every time I get a new invitation to capture someone’s creative wedding, I am bouncing off the walls! I completely love my job and the amazing people I get to meet, and each new wedding is as thrilling and inspiring as the very first!

Booking me is a really easy process. I know that planning a wedding is difficult enough without lengthy booking processes and complicated conditions. With me, we don’t even need to meet!

Having photographed all over Europe and beyond for the many years I am very used to meeting my clients on the day and working to make sure they are instantly put at ease. Many describe our first meeting as like being reunited with a long-lost friend!

I have also become very astute at spotting, from your first email whether we are a good fit for each other. I often find I can sense a person’s energy and values just from the way they phrase that first email, so I usually have a strong gut reaction that says, “Yes! This bride is perfect!”

The Wedding Booking Process:

In that first email I will go though the various details you will need to make sure you are 100% comfortable and confident with choosing me.

If there is anything else that I don’t cover that you have questions about, don’t hesitate to ask. I am here to help! There is no question too small, I’m aware this is likely to be the first time to book a wedding photographer so of course you will be unsure of the process.

I am also aware that it may feel scary to part with your money without receiving my service and product until many months or even year after! I want to make sure you have complete peace of mind that you will get exactly what you paid for.

If every thing looks good and you feel completely happy that I am the perfect photographer for you, then we will start the booking process. This is super simple and is usually completed in a matter of minutes!

1) Booking FormFirstly I will send you a booking form which doubles as our contract. In this contract we will agree all the particulars of every eventuality so you can have complete peace of mind and be reassured that I have thought of everything to make sure that you are protected and will get the wedding photos of your dreams.

2) Booking Fee Secondly there is a partial payment made which serves as a booking fee. This is payable online and will be confirmed immediately for your peace of mind. There is a second instalment due 6 months before your wedding and the final instalment 3 months before. These both serve as nice excuses to get in touch and see how you are doing (and listen to your exciting plans, I get very excited about all the girlie details).

Trust and Professionalism:

As an experienced wedding photographer I want to make sure you have complete peace of mind. I want you free to focus on your wedding day and enjoying every second of it without having to give a single concern to your wedding photos.

I am a hyper-organised person (although you wouldn’t realise it from the flexible and adaptable way I work on the day!) I think it is my ability to plan and predict that makes me so able to relax and adapt to your wedding day as it unfolds. I know I have got everything covered!

Enjoy your wedding with peace of mind

I have back-ups for my back-ups and check everything several times before a wedding day. I am so aware that this is the most important day of your life, and therefore it is mine too! I am taking no chances that my service and images will be anything less than everything you need and dream of.

I have full insurances, replacement camera kit, and take great pride in working really well with any supplier I happen to meet on the wedding day. From make-up artists to bar staff, I treat everyone with warmth and respect.

I value everyone and do all I can to make sure that you have the best day ever. I have even been known to come to the rescue on more than one occasion to fix button holes, re-pin veils, rescue decorations and general make sure your wedding day gets off without a hitch! There are definitely benefits to having a female wedding photographer!

How I Work

Every wedding photographer works differently, even those of advertise natural coverage. It is really important to note that when I say I work in a hands off way, I really mean it. I am terrible at posing and organising people, I’m not good at it and I don’t like doing it.

I am exceptionally good at quietly blending into the background and spotting the perfect natural moments as they happen.

I have a particular love of capturing pictures of fun and laughter. For this reason I am often walking around at a wedding day listening to the punch line of everyone’s jokes. I sometimes think I should advertise myself as a professional eaves-dropper!

I just find that natural pictures are always the most beautiful. The ones with movement and emotion.

But don’t worry, one of the many benefits of being a female photographer is that I am acutely aware of what is flattering and what is not!

If you belly laugh with a double chin (my golden tip is to laugh forward not backward to avoid the dreaded double chin!) it won’t make it into your final collection. I want you to feel as beautiful in your wedding photos as you felt on the day.

So, although I don’t photoshop you beyond what is natural, and love to captures more than just your usual “photo face”, I trust you will still feel beautiful so you can totally relaxed and enjoy the day, trusting that I have your best interests at heart.

Still need help to decide?

If you are still unsure whether I could be the perfect photographer for you please feel free to watch the videos below. It will show you a little more about how I work and interact with my wedding clients. What I look for and what motivates me to create the images and provide the service that I do.

Plus, of course, you get to see my cheeky little face and hopefully get a feel for how much I love to laugh and spread joy and warmth to everyone I meet!
