Top Tips from a Cumbria Wedding Photographer
I’ve photographed lots of beautiful weddings all across Cumbria, and over the years I’ve stumbled upon many tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your wedding day!
1) Pick the best time of year.
Cumbria is a beautiful place to get married, but it can also be unpredictable when it comes to the weather. You might get lucky and have a sunny day in July, or you might get unlucky and have a rainy day in April. The truth is, you never know what the weather will be like, so you should be prepared for anything. However, some months are more likely to have dry and pleasant weather than others. Generally speaking, April, May, June, September, and October are good bets for your Cumbria wedding. These months tend to have less rainfall and more sunshine than the rest of the year. But don’t rule out the summer months either, as they can also surprise you with some lovely days. The most important thing is to enjoy your special day, no matter what the weather.
2) Find your dream venue.
There are so many amazing venues in Cumbria that can suit any budget, style, and guest list. Whether you want a cosy hotel, a rustic barn, a majestic castle, or even a boat on the lake, you can find it in Cumbria. Here are some tips to help you find your perfect venue:
Set a budget and stick to it. Different venues have different prices and packages, so you should know how much you can afford before you start looking.
Know your style and theme. Do you want a traditional or a modern wedding? A formal or a casual wedding? A romantic or a fun wedding? Think about what kind of atmosphere and vibe you want for your wedding, and look for venues that match your vision…
…Know your guest list and capacity. How many people do you want to invite to your wedding? How many people can fit in the venue? Make sure you have a clear idea of how big or small your wedding will be, and look for venues that can accommodate your numbers.
3) Get inspired by other couples.
One of the best ways to plan your Cumbria wedding is to see how other couples did it. You can get ideas and inspiration from their stories, photos, and tips. Here are some ways to do that:
Read blogs of real weddings that took place in Cumbria on websites like Rock My Wedding and Love My Dress. You can see how different couples styled their weddings, what themes and colours they chose, what vendors they used, and how they dealt with any challenges.
Talk to other couples who got married in Cumbria and ask them for their advice and recommendations. You can find them on social media groups, forums, or wedding fairs. They can share their experiences and insights with you, and help you avoid any pitfalls or mistakes.
And lastly, browse the real weddings on my website, there’s pictures of full weddings and loads of info too!
